New Executive Director Announced

Announcements,

The Executive Board of the Association is happy to announce the appointment of Archie Wright as permanent Executive Director. After Joe Atkinson stepped down for health reasons in March, Archie served as Interim Executive Director until his appointment for a three-year term at the Executive Board meeting on July 30, 2021. In his report during the 2021 Business Meeting, Archie said, "I want to thank the membership and especially the Board for your trust in allowing me this opportunity to lead such a fine organization."

Archie received his BA (1996) and MA (1998) from Oral Roberts University and his PhD from the University of Durham in 2005. His research on the interpretation of Genesis 6 in the Second Temple period resulted in a published monograph, The Origin of Evil Spirits, published in two editions by Mohr Siebeck (2005, 2013) and in a new edition by Fortress (2015). Another monograph on the problem of evil is scheduled for publication this year. Archie, a convert to Roman Catholicism, served on the faculty of Regent University, Virginia until 2020 and is currently a Visiting Lecturer at the London School of Theology.  He has extensive editorial experience with edited volumes produced by Brill and Cascade publishers, and has played a significant role in organizing academic conferences for the Enoch Seminar.  The Board believes that Archie is well qualified to be the Interim Executive Director.
