Call for Papers
The Catholic Biblical Association will host, on October 10-11, 2024, the second annual Innovation: Emerging Scholarship Conference, an international event for postdoctoral scholars and graduate students. This virtual event welcomes emerging scholars to share their innovative research in a collegial environment.
Participants are expected to read all submitted papers before the event to focus the conversation on the presented ideas. Every session is scheduled for 1.5 hrs. The sessions will begin with 5-minute introductions by 2-3 researchers, one graduate student respondent, and one senior scholar respondent, followed by open discussion among participants.
The seminar welcomes doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers to present papers and participate in general discussions. Participants from various fields related to and including the Hebrew Bible, Pseudepigrapha, Apocrypha, Qumran Scrolls, New Testament, and Christian and Rabbinic literature are invited to submit paper proposals. All are welcome to attend.
Paper proposals (250-500 words) must be submitted by July 1, 2024. Letters of acceptance will be sent by July 15, 2024. Completed papers (maximum 6,000 words, including notes) are due September 9, 2024. Select papers will be published in a conference proceeding, allowing the research to reach a wider audience.
Please contact the organizing committee and the seminar secretary, Dr. Joshua Scott (scottjo@cua.edu), for registration details and submission of proposals and papers.
