The Faculty of Catholic Theology (FB 2) at the University of Münster, Germany, seeks to appoint a Professor (W3) of Old Testament Exegesis for instatement on 1 April 2021.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the entire spectrum of research and teaching activities in the subject “Old Testament Exegesis”. It is especially desired that the candidate be actively engaged in academic discussions with the wider ecumenical community. The profile of the candidate should complement that of the professorship in History and Religion of the Old Testament. The tasks of the professorship include providing instruction in all relevant degree programmes offered at the faculty in all phases of study. The candidate is expected to constructively participate in academic discourse and joint research and teaching projects at the Faculty of Catholic Theology and the University of Münster. The candidate should possess outstanding achievements in research and teaching. Experience with grant funding and international networking is desirable.

To be considered for this position, the candidate must have a higher education degree in Catholic Theology, a doctoral degree in Catholic Theology and possess competence in university didactics. The position also requires additional academic achievement in Old Testament Studies obtained through an assistant professorship (Juniorprofessur), an habilitation, as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant social fields in Germany or abroad.
