Call for Papers for the New England Regional CBA Meeting

 

The New England Region of the Catholic Biblical Association will host its first meeting on Saturday, March 6, 2027. Our plenary speaker will be Gregory Sterling, Dean of Yale Divinity School and The Reverend Henry L. Slack Dean and Lillian Claus Professor New Testament at Yale Divinity School.

 

Registration costs:

$40 Professional (in-person); $20 Professional (hybrid); $10 student, retired, or unemployed

At this time, we invite proposals for the first New England Regional Catholic Biblical Association Meeting at Boston College, Clough School of Theology and Ministry (9 Lake Street, Brighton, MA 02135). Paper proposals should include a title and an abstract of 200 words. Proposals will go through a review process. Please clearly identify the texts and the methodology that will be used in the paper. CBA membership or membership application is required for presenters. The CBA welcomes non-members to register and attend the conference.

 

The due date for proposing a paper is December 20, 2026. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by January 15, 2027. Registration deadline is February 20, 2027.


We are accepting proposals in any of the following areas:

·      Hebrew Bible / Septuagint / Old Testament: Pentateuch;

Historical Books; Psalms and Wisdom; Prophets; and Deuterocanon

·      New Testament: Gospels; Acts; Pauline corpus; Catholic Epistles; 

Letter to the Hebrews; Revelation

·      Dead Sea Scrolls and Second Temple Literature

·      Early Christian Writings

·      Reception History

·      Biblical Hermeneutics

·      Theological and Pastoral Approaches to Scripture

·      A panel treating a clear theme (3 papers)

 

Paper Awards:

If you wish to be considered for the Graduate Student Paper Award, please submit your full paper by January 31, 2027 (angela.harkins@bc.edu). Please put in the subject line: Graduate Student Paper Award. Winners will be announced at the New England Regional Meeting on March 6, 2027. Submissions should not exceed 4000 words, excluding footnotes and bibliography.

 

The New England Regional meeting of the Catholic Biblical Association is committed to hosting an inclusive and accessible event for all participants.
