Affiliate Association
Estatblished 2026
The Catholic Biblical Association of America’s Affiliate Association program provides a formal framework for organizations that wish to participate in and support the work
of the CBA.
Affiliate Association status is intended for organizations whose mission, activities, and public presence are consistent with the CBA’s mission, standards, and institutional responsibilities. Affiliation allows participating organizations to strengthen their connection with the CBA while retaining their own identity, mission, leadership,
and governance.
Benefits of Affiliate Association Status
Approved Affiliate Associations receive the following core benefits:
-
Recognition as an official CBA Affiliate Association on the CBA website.
-
The opportunity to submit notices for review and, when approved, distribution through the CBA listserv.
-
Affiliate Associations are also eligible to participate in expanded promotional and sponsorship opportunities, including:
-
Paid Advertising on the CBA website
-
Paid Promotion through CBA social media channels
-
Paid Sponsorship of CBA in-person and hybrid events
-
Advertising, promotional, and sponsorship opportunities are governed by separate Board-approved policies and fee schedules. Affiliate status does not automatically include these additional services.
Scope of Affiliate Status
Affiliate Association status creates an institutional relationship between the organization and the CBA.
It does not confer:
-
Voting rights within the CBA
-
Governance authority or representation in CBA leadership
-
Authority over CBA conferences, programs, publications, or institutional decisions
-
The privileges associated with individual CBA membership
Participation in an Affiliate Association does not confer CBA membership status on the Affiliate Association's members. Individuals associated with an Affiliate Association must qualify for and maintain their own CBA memberships to receive the privileges of individual membership.
Recognition as an Affiliate Association also does not imply that the CBA endorses every activity, publication, product, position, or viewpoint associated with the affiliate.
Application and Review
Organizations interested in becoming Affiliate Associations must complete a brief application describing their mission, leadership, activities, constituency, and reasons for seeking affiliation with the CBA.
Applications are reviewed and approved by the CBA Executive Board. In evaluating an application, the Board may consider the organization’s:
-
Mission and principal activities
-
Relationship to biblical scholarship and the broader work of the CBA
-
Organizational structure and leadership
-
Conduct and public profile
-
Capacity to contribute constructively to the CBA community
Submission of an application does not guarantee approval. The Executive Board may request additional information before reaching a decision.
The CBA retains the right to deny, suspend, or revoke Affiliate Association status when an organization’s mission, activities, conduct, or public profile is judged to be inconsistent with the Association’s mission, standards, or reputational responsibilities.
Annual Fee and Renewal
The annual Affiliate Association fee is $50. Any future revisions to the fee schedule are subject to approval by the CBA Executive Board.
Affiliate status must be renewed annually through the CBA’s regular membership renewal cycle. Renewal may include confirmation of the organization’s current leadership, contact information, mission, activities, and continued compliance with CBA policies.
A $50 fee is required with your application. Click the button below to make your payment:
