Professional Bio
Tommaso Bacci is a PhD Candidate at the University of Chicago Divinity School (Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near East). He earned his SSL at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (2021, Rome). His main research areas are Pentateuch criticism with a focus on the P/H diachrony and on comparative evidence from Akkadian literature. He is currently working on his dissertation project, "Direct Akkadian–Hebrew Language Contact in the so-called “Priestly Texts” in the Pentateuch." Due to his interest in Comparative Semitics, he ventures into various textual corpora, from Old Akkadian to Syriac.
