Tenure-Track: Assistant/Associate Professor of Scripture Studies

Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, Nova Scotia, intends to hire a new tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, to commence in summer 2020 (date negotiable). To fulfill statutory requirements, this appointment must be filled by a Roman Catholic.

The successful applicant will specialize in the area of New Testament Studies and Biblical Exegesis. A second area of teaching expertise will also be necessary, drawn from one or more of the following: Hebrew Bible, pastoral studies, or interreligious dialogue. The incumbent will teach within AST’s graduate programs, both on campus and online, and within the diploma programs and the Leadership Learning Initiative.

The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree in Biblical Studies, completed or nearing completion, and will have a robust program of research and publication, or strong promise for future contributions. The successful applicant will have a collegial approach and a supportive spirit toward ecumenism and the Christian tradition.

Participation in campus community life, including chapel leadership, is normative for AST faculty, as is sharing in some administrative work and student advising. Participation in parish and diocesan life external to AST is desirable.
