Interim Executive Director
Members of The Catholic Biblical Association
As you have already heard, Joe Atkinson, who has served the CBA for eight years as executive director will be stepping down from his position on March 10 for reasons of health. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of Joe's tenure and thanking him for his service at the Annual General Meeting. In the meantime, the work of the Association must go on.
Therefore, the Executive Board of the Association is happy to announce the appointment of Archie Wright as Interim Executive Director. Archie received his BA (1996) and MA (1998) from Oral Roberts University and his PhD from the University of Durham in 2005. His research on the interpretation of Genesis 6 in the Second Temple period resulted in a published monograph, The Origin of Evil Spirits, published in two editions by Mohr Siebeck (2005, 2013) and in a new edition by Fortress (2015). Another monograph on the problem of evil is scheduled for publication this year. Archie, a convert to Roman Catholicism, served on the faculty of Regent University, Virginia until 2020 and is currently a Visiting Lecturer at the London School of Theology. He has extensive editorial experience with edited volumes produced by Brill and Cascade publishers, and has played a significant role in organizing academic conferences for the Enoch Seminar. The Board believes that Archie is well qualified to be the Interim Executive Director.
Archie will begin his role as Interim Executive Director on March 11 and will serve in this capacity for a term of five months while a formal search is undertaken for a permanent appointment to the position.
