Professional Bio

María Barga holds a PhD degree in Biblical Studies from The Catholic University of America (CUA), Washington, DC. She currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Illinois where she teaches biblical studies courses that incorporate elements of comparative scripture as well as suffering in the Bible. Recent works include “Redeeming Zechariah: Silence as Mercy in Luke 1 and Q. 3 and Q. 19” in Routledge’s Reading the Bible in Islamic Context, a co-authored chapter (“My/Our Servant Job: Creation and Temptation as a Guide to Understanding Job as God’s Servant”) in Brill’s Companion to Comparative Theology, and and “The Word Made Flesh: The Interdependence of the Proclamation of the Word and the Eucharist” in the journal Chicago Studies.
